Microsoft asian fonts

On my Mac and in Word I have the language set by default to English. So, I don't know where this 'Asian text font' is coming from - much less how to get rid of it. Was this reply helpful?

Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I've actually pursued this route - repeatedly - but it does nothing to take away the 'Asian text font' lines at the top of the Font dialog box.

I want to get rid completely of the Asian text lines. Don't know where they came from, don't use them, want them gone. Unfortunately, the avenue you suggest doesn't work. The fonts listed under the Asian font drop-down menu shown in the screen shot in my original question are not listed in the Mac Font Book.

And there is no Asian or East Asian collection or Smart collection indicated either. So, I can't simply get rid of or disable fonts that aren't in the Font Book. I think the issue is likely to be Word specific. See the screen shot below of the main Word Preferences panel. And, with not offense to my Japanese and other Asian friends, I really don't want these items to be permanently embedded in Word.

Please disregard these wild guesses from Edmund Abayon. Thank you for trying to help. But i'm not sure what you mean by 'preferences dialog. As you can see from the image, 'English' is the language selected and always has been. Yet the Font formatting dialog box continues to - and always has - show 'Asian text font' as the dominant font choice. Thank you! Any more feedback? The more you tell us the more we can help.
